Drama For Handicapped People

Enjoyable school atmosphere and livable world for disadvantaged people thanks to drama.

Is there a child who can't imagine taken into consideration and confirmed his/her abilities and capacity by the other people ? It shouldn't be . All children , surely handicapped ones , have expectations and dreams . All children are worth that faired the chance out to make their dreams come true . (Unicef , 2013 )
The main objective of education is to maintain the high level persistency of knowledge, skill and equipment. The most efficient and persistent learning style is learning by doing and experience. And drama is one of the ways of learning by doing and experience.During this period, learning takes place by experiencing rather than memorising. It is stated that it would be a positive sample for children with mental disability ,who are socially ineligible, to be in such an interaction with their peers and this increases the possibility of their acceptance by their friends
Our project aims to encourage the equality by making the access easier to the participants who is disadvantaged and has limited opportunities in contrast with their peers . In the direction of that goal , we purpose to give the opportunities to our pupils to complete social and personal progressing of our disabled students offering of drama technique with the partners in Europe .
One of the most important objectives in this project is to enable to be active at the point of providing primarily self requirements of our students and needs of society by creating social integration . To do this , first of all , it has been desired to ensure these individuals' continuation to the school and educational life actively and to pull the rate of absences at school down to the minimum degrees and to endear school to them via rich activities enabled by drama and game based learning methods.
Drama is a part of the natural development of a child ; as the students are in a joyful action period , their learning and perception degrees have been arriving to higher level . Enjoyable school atmosphere increases the rate of continuation to the school of handicapped students and the level of quitting school in time goes down . With this purpose , we aim that the perpetuation of these students to the education actively with drama to stop the quitting school and absence in the rate of 80 percent in our town.
With our EU Erasmus+ Project we aim to:
-maintain the attendance of disabled students to the classes and increase their motivation in the classroom
-help teachers create more efficient classroom atmosphere by means of the drama training they would get in Europe
-provide the recognition of handicapped students by both teachers and peers
-let disabled students primarily in school and then in society actively
