Creative leisure and Cultural diversity

Project theme: arts, inclusion, democracy, participation, active off-school-time-for-youngsters. Target group: youngsters (13-25 years of age) in Sundsvall.

Project description
We invite creative participants with art (music, theatre, painting, handicrafts etc.) interests to our project! We look for participants with a great deal of initiative and joyful minds!

The work we do, with/for the youngsters of Sundsvall, needs continuous updating to broaden and increase awareness of similarities and differences in Europe, between youngsters, working staff in our organisation and participants joining our project from all over Europe.

Our project objective above all, is to increase solidarity between different cultures through its basic theme of inclusion of young people in our city and the participants’ different ideas for their own projects.

We prefer participants to do their EVS during 12 months in our organisation, starting either in February or in September. In this way, we intend to host at least 2 volunteers at the same time, overlapping each other. We have noticed that this way makes the facilitation easier for new arriving participants, since they are supported by former participants in the project, when needed and in much of the initial work with the youngsters.

City of Sundsvall is the biggest city in the north area and close to the middle of Sweden. Approximately 100.000 inhabitants live in the city and its surroundings. The city has major industries which develops paper, aluminium and chemicals. Sundsvall is surrounded by a great deal of forests, mountains, rivers, lakes and the Baltic Sea. Many inhabitants spend their leisure time in surrounding forests to hike and cross country skiing, fishing, picking mushrooms and berries. Of course, we sunbathe on the beaches, if the weather is good enough! North of Sundsvall and 200 km further up is the world heritage "The High Coast" situated, with its marvellous coastline.
