The European Peer Training Organisation (EPTO) and PeaceJam are proposing a unique opportunity to discover a new training programme based on Compassion in Action, PeaceJam's powerful award-winning curriculum, and completed by EPTO’s expertise in the field of facilitation and peer education.

EPTO and its partners developed a new peer training programme for group leaders who wish to create inclusive communities through positive youth development. Building upon the powerful methodology of peer training, it fosters young people’s core competences from altruism and compassion, to action and engagement – and helps youth value diversity and create inclusive communities.

In order to fully explore this comprehensive programme passing from awareness-raising to taking action, and leading to a certification in the EPTO network, we are proposing a 6-day training process. The peer training programme will take place in Brussels, Belgium,
7th – 12th September 2020.

European Peer Training Organisation (EPTO) (Youth NGO)

The European Peer Training Organisation (EPTO) is a network of young people and non-governmental organisations active in the field of youth who use peer education as a mean to discuss issues related to prejudice and discrimination.
EPTO educates and supports peer trainers to lead workshops that challenge stereotypes and to become activists against exclusion within their environments. We provide a space where young people can be learners and educators, sharing with their peers their competencies in a spirit of collaboration. In EPTO, individual knowledge becomes collective knowledge.
By building capacity for young people and youth-serving organisations to implement quality peer training and offering progressive personal and professional development, EPTO furthers the objective to create a widespread snowball effect where young people are active actors of social change through their participation.

PeaceJam’s mission is to create young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Laureates who pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody. PeaceJam Belgium is the Belgian chapter of the European network.
Actions are threefold:
1. Encourage young people to become active for peace thanks to the inspiration of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. In that regard, we are organising conferences and events giving the opportunity to the youth to meet and discuss with the Peace Laureates. The next conference will take place in March in Brussels and will feature Rigoberta Menchú Tum, a Guatemalan human rights activist.
2. Teach peaceful values of empathy, compassion and acceptance to young pupils, from 5 years old. For that purpose, we are using the curriculum "Compassion in Action". We are training teachers and youth and social workers to use the Curriculum, for them to be able to implement it as part of their activities.
3. Action - Encourage young people to become active in their communities.
