European Training Calendar
Training course
5-11 March 2012 | Latvia
BACKGROUND
Due to the constant political, social, economical and cultural developments in Europe the role of active citizenship is often questioned. Discussions and debates are held not only among scholars, researchers and politicians but also among young people and those active in youth work and youth organisations. The developing nature and complexity of the concept of citizenship us such leads to diverse ways of understanding, interpreting and practicing the citizenship.
The YOUTH in Action programme is one of the opportunities where young people can experience this complexity through active participation in youth projects at local, national and European level. Promotion of young people’s active citizenship in general and their European citizenship in particular is a key priority in this programme.
The “impACT!on – Youth in Action” Training Course - which has been implemented three times since 2006 - can give young people knowledge, skills and understanding about active citizenship and its development and place in European society. It also raises awareness among young people that there are already good practices of active citizenship to be found in their own experience. The Youthpass will be integrated in the programme and used by the participants as an instrument to accompany their learning. Last but not least the course will help to start designing projects on active citizenship in the YOUTH in Action programme.
