CrissCross Transnational - A Youth Seminar exploring Structured Dialogue proposals in 2013

Seminar

22-27 May 2013 | Bray, Co.Wicklow, Ireland

This Youth Seminar aims to bring together young people from across Europe to work together in exploration of the structured dialogue process. To collect the recommendation made and identify how young people can connect more deeply to them in reality.
In 2008 young people from a variety of youth groups around Ireland began a consultation process together,& identified areas of policy which they felt were most relevant: Health, Suicide Prevention, Peer Pressure and Social Exclusion. In 2010 a new consultation bringing “old” and new faces together working through an exploration of “Youth Democracy, understanding the role of young people, their perception of how it is and how is could/should be. But never losing the original spirit of “we had fun together, made great friends and found new ways to make a difference” In 2013 - The idea for this Youth Seminar is for a group of Irish young people to invite young people from across Europe to come to Ireland during Youth Week 2013 and explore in depth the topics of the current structured dialogue process. Over a five day period the young people will develop a common understanding of the topics while also engaging with other Irish young people and policy makers to generate some momentum with a view to developing a network supported by NA’s that will offer a continuity of engagement and action on the structured dialogue themes as well as supporting the implementation of the new EU Programme for Youth. Aims and objectives: Crisscross Transnational aims to engage with a diverse group of young people from across Europe. Objectives include; To explore the themes of the current Structured Dialogue process. To engage with other young people and policy makers during Youthweek. To draw on the support of respective partner NA’s to design actions relating to this exploration. To develop a network of young people/ambassadors for YiA (or equivalent) This seminar is targeted at young people aged 18-23yrs who have a leadership role in their organisations, and the ability to motivate other young people to explore the topics of structured dialogue in their own youth groups.
