Step Up to Inclusion in EVS

Training Course

18-20 April 2013 | Dublin, Ireland

This training is for accredited EVS sending and hosting organisations who wish to develop their capacity to support young people with fewer opportunities to take part in EVS.
This training will take place in Dublin, Ireland, over 3 full days 18 - 20 April (excluding travel days). The aim of this training is to enhance the capabilities of participants to develop and implement quality EVS projects involving Young People with Fewer Opportunities. It will be a chance to explore best practice in both short- and longterm EVS projects and will address the following topics: • Working with your partner • Recruitment and selection • Developing a work programme • ensuring a match between the volunteer and the project tasks • Specific supports needed for Young People with Fewer Opportunities • Developing a pre-Departure plan • Mentoring and supporting the volunteer during their EVS • Supporting non-formal learning • Risk Management • Evaluating and building on your EVS experience At the end of the training, participants should be in a position to apply the learning to their own organisations and develop a realistic plan to send and/or to host EVS volunteers. It is expected that participants will come from a wide-range of organisations working with young people in a variety of settings. Partner-matching is therefore not a priority for this training although time will be set aside to allow for participants to develop contacts if they so wish. Applications are particularly welcome from organisations interested in developing reciprocal short-term EVS projects i.e. organisations who could both host and send volunteers.
