Need-Based Methods Laboratory - Learning and Partner Finding

Training Course

28 May - 2 June 2013 | Imatra, Finland

Learning is essential in Youth in Action projects. The Lab looks at learning from a logical point of view: What our need for learning is and how do we build a method to learn? We look youth exchanges as learning opportunities and design projects together.
The Need-Based Method Lab will look at working with young people from our practical point of view. It gives youth workers an opportunity to come aware of their working methods and develop other ways of working with young people. These can be designed active methods and/or more general ways of working. Participants come to the training with their need. It may be a thing your young people complain or quarrel about, something that bothers them and should be discussed. You can evaluate your own ways of dealing with young people and try new ways to explore topics. Methods give young people an opportunity to learn about their topic of interest. We will also look at youth exchanges as a way to explore the same topics together and find good methods to discuss them. AIM: • Improve quality of 1.1 through making youth exchanges a better learning experience OBJECTIVES: • Engaging and challenging to go back to the basics: Why do we use methodology? • Exploring learning: Discovering how, where and why learning happens, in order to support it. • Discover the elements of learning methodology, and creating “tailor made” methodology to the needs of participants and their young people • Build and support partnerships around methodology and ideas THEMES: • Learning to learn, facilitating learning • Needs of young people as a starting point • Essence of a method • Elements of Non-Formal Learning • Partnership building • Youth exchanges as a learning environment
