Volunteer-pedia

Seminar

4-11 November 2012 | Lviv, Ukraine

Volunteer-pedia. Everything you want to know about volunteering and (international) youth work, and everything you can do about volunteer work.
100 volumes of Brockhaus, or Encyclopedia Britannica? Lots of knowledge collected on hundreds of pages, condenced wisdom of humanity? Nicely smelling book dust? As exsiting it may sound – our project is not about it. It is about volunteering, passion, fun, and learning. And it is about making our on encyclopedia on volunteering – a volunteer-pedia, with ‘pictures’ of how volunteering looks like in Service Civil International and other voluntary service organizations now. With space for all the things we have in it – fun, passion, doing something useful, our values and believes, talks at the campfire till the sunrise… The aim is to learn, discuss and share about volunteering as practical tool for active citizenship on different levels, from local to international, and develop ideas how to make voluntary service more efficient, motivating young people to active citizenship and concrete deeds. The program will consist of parallel blocks or workshops, partly big open space. Participants would be welcome to propose topics and run some workshops themselves. As volunteer-pedia in internet age, the sessions and outcomes will have online presentation, maybe with possibility for people to comment in real time (and have distant participants). Participants profile: active volunteers, leaders and coordinators of youth and volunteer projects, staff and board members of organizations, interested in the topics of the seminar, willing to learn more about international volunteering and Service Civil International network of organizations, discuss and share experiences of volunteer work from different countries and organizations, brainstorm together how to improve (international) volunteer work and develop ideas for joint activities. There is no age limit.
