"Let's Europe! Citizen Journalism & Active Citizenship"

Training Course

28 September - 6 October 2012 | Messina, Italy

This Grundtvig workshop purpose is to reinforce each participant’s European dimension by promoting Citizen Journalism as a tool for Active Citizenship.
The workshop purpose is to reinforce each participant’s European dimension by promoting Citizen Journalism as a tool for Active Citizenship. Therefore participants will be given the chance to share the key features of European Active Citizenship and to promote it directly, together, by using Social Media. Most of the working sessions will provide interactive workshops and group works on Citizen Journalism, web site and blog management, and an incisive use of social media. In order to give a wide knowledge on these topics, also a professional perspective will be exploredwith study visits to local press agency, both traditional and on-line. Participants will improve simple but incisive skills in communication so to create and reinforce a social network, formal or informal, that involves European citizens. Key words of this workshop are: respect, comprehension, reciprocity but also creativeness and learning by doing. Participants are asked to play an active role during all the workshop activities, during the preparatory phase and some of the follow-up activities. Participants will have the chance to learn and improve specific competences in the field of social media, citizens journalism and active citizenship, and to become actors in their communities, by promoting the values of the active citizenship with concrete actions. The workshop organizer will support them actively through the network that will be created in this workshop. The Workshops will provide a stimulating mutual learning experience for each of the learners through active participation. Each day will allow space for exploration and discussions on issues of common European interest, which will enhance active citizenship and intercultural dialogue.Participants will share meal-times and take part in after programme activities, including inter-cultural evenings, allowing time for networking and building relationships, while learning about each others cultures and customs. A certificate of attendance will be issued only to those who have fully attended all the workshop sessions and that have actively contributed to the workshop realization (e.g. by taking part to cultural trips). The same requirements are necessary if participants want to benefit form the ECDL Test opportunity.
