Training Course "Diverse You(th)"

Training Course

31 October - 7 November 2011 | Krzyzowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding , Poland

Who are you? And why? What and who has influenced you? Diversity has not only to do with geographical distance, but with all the influences that made us how we are. Join us on a journey to bring some sense into this!
24 facillitators from 9 different countries (Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Portugual, Italy, Estonia, Hungary, Greece) will come to share, learn and develop further their experiences as youth workers. The aim of the training course is to reflect on the concept of identity in international youth work – its concepts and methods of working on that issue, particularly with disadvantaged children and youth. We will be focusing in terms of content and methodology on a recent S A L T O publication : ‘Understanding You[th]’. The first part of the training will be dedicated to reflection on the individual and group identity of the participants, and its relation to international youth work. The second stage of the training will be dedicated to practicing the methods on identity, based on the „Understanding You[th] “ publication – the participants will run short training sessions, practicing their facilitation skills. The important next stage of the training will consist in adaptation of the presented methods to work with disadvantaged children and youth. In the end of the training the participants will have an opportunity to set up partnerships and plan follow up activities – local on international onces – targeting disadvantaged children and youth. The Training Course will be strongly related to the SALTO publication ‘Understanding You[th]’. Before the TC please have a look at it. During the training the participants will be responsible for running short sessions for each other in order to master your facilitation skills and practice new methods. The pdf version of the book you can download here. The trainers INCONTRO is a team of free-lance trainers active in the field of non-formal education, communication and development. We run diverse educational activities, mostly trainings for non profit and business organisations. www.incontro-training.org

Organiser:

Krzyzowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding (Youth NGO)

The Krzyżowa Foundation is a politically independent, non-profit organisation. All revenues are reinvested into the workings of the Foundation and the maintenance of the Youth Meeting Centre.
The services and programmes offered in Krzyzowa are facilitated by an international and multilingual team with long-standing experience in the field of inter-cultural youth work.
Arousing curiosity and the will to get to know others, looking for similarities and trying to understand differences, learning tolerance and communication skills – these are the essential elements of the meetings in the International Youth Meeting Centre.
The history of Krzyżowa plays an important role
in our programmes, but the most important part of Krzyżowa for us is the idea of bringing people
together. To this end the International Youth Meeting Center brings groups of young people together all year around for workshops, or discussions with people of various nationalities and backgrounds.
