European Citizenship in Youth Work Training Courses
The European Citizenship in Youth Work Training Courses support youth workers and youth leaders developing their critical understanding of European Citizenship and encourage them to integrate the topic in their practical work.
The training course on European Citizenship in youth work (ECTC) is aimed at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their critical understanding of European Citizenship, exploring and experiencing its potential, and enabling them to recognise and integrate European Citizenship in their youth work.
During the current period, the ECTCs listed below are planned to take place. The National Agencies will select the participants from Programme Countries. Participants coming from Neighbouring Partner Countries in the regions of South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus will be selected by the SALTO EECA and SEE Resource Centres.
- ECTC-DE in Germany (6-12 February 2012), including participants from Germany, Austria, the French and Flemish speaking communities of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-IT in Italy (19-25 March 2012), including participants from Italy, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-BE/FR in Belgium (14-20 May 2012), including participants from the French and Flemish speaking communitities of Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-CR in Croatia (11-17 June 2012), including participants from Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Turkey, United Kingdom, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-IT in Italy (29 October - 4 November 2012), including participants from Italy, Austria, the Flemish speaking community of Belgium, BFrance, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-TR in Turkey (April 2013), including participants from Turkey, the French and Flemish speaking communities of Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Turkey, United Kingdom, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- ECTC-PT in Portugal (May/June 2013), including participants from Portugal, the French speaking community of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom, and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
- EXTRA: ECTC in France in French language! (25 Feb-3 March 2013), open call for applicants from all YiA Programme countries and from the regions of Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South East Europe.
The training courses are implemented by a trainers pool consisting of 4 European trainers: Andreas Karsten, Elena Kasko, Paola Bortini, and Xavier Baro Urbea.

Since 2001, the Partnership Programme between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the filed of youth developed and implemented training modules on European Citizenship in youth work. Since 2006, the above listed ECTCs - hosted and co-financed by the National Agencies for the YOUTH IN ACTION Programme - are developed and implemented as a cooperation project between the Partnership and the SALTO Training and Co-operation Resource Centre.
The website on «European Citizenship» is an initative of the ECTC trainer team to offer a central point of information, exchange, feedback, and reflection to former and future participants of trainings on European Citizenship as well as social workers, NGO activists, researchers, policy makers and citizens.
