SALTO-YOUTH Title

Eligible projects with South East Europe

With the support of the Youth in Action programme, young people can participate in various activities, such as youth exchanges, training and networking activities and the European Voluntary Service.

Organisations and/or individuals form South East Europe can participate in and coordinate projects within Action 2 and Action 3.1.

Action 2 - European Voluntary Service

The European Voluntary Service enables young people to carry out a voluntary service for up to 12 months in another country. It fosters solidarity among young people and isa true "learning service". Beyond benefiting local communities, volunteers learn new skills and languages, and discover other cultures. Non-formal learning principles and practice are reflected throughout the project.

Every EVS project involves different partners: One or more sending organisations, one or more host organisations (hosting the volunteers during their service period) and a coordinating organisation (which can be the same organisation as the sending or host organisation), which is submitting the application and coordinates the project.

Every promoter involved in an EVS project (sending, host and coordinating organisations) must be accredited before being able to receive a projec grant.

Action 3.1 - Youth in the World: Cooperation with the Neighbouring Partner Countries of the European Union

Under Action 3.1., two types of projects can be supported: Youth Exchanges and Training and Networking activities.

A youth exchange brings together groups of young people from two or more countries, providing them with an opportunity to discuss and confront various themes, while learning about eachothers' countries and cultures.

A training and networking project can be

  • a project promoting exchanges, cooperation and training in the field of youth. It supports capacity building and innovation among promoters, and well as the exchange of experience, expertise and good practice among those involved in youth work
  • a project leading to the development of further projects under the Youth in Action programme. It helps potential promoters to prepare and develop new projects under the Programme, in particular by ensuring support and know-how for the development of projects, partner-finding, and tools and means to improve the quality of projects.

Training and networking activities can be training courses, seminars, partnership-building activities, job shadowing, study visits, feasibility visits, evaluation meetings or networking activities.
