EuroMed Essentials:the role of Religions in the EuroMediterranean cooperation

The training proposal has as main aim to increase the level of knowledge and competency in working in Mediterranean area for trainers active at national, international level or potential trainers (youth worker and youth leaders).

The proposal is articulated in 3 modules:
1st module about Geopolitics;
2nd module about History;
3rd module about Religion.

Each module is independent by the others. The first module about Geopolitics has been hosted in Greece in 2010. The second one History was held in 2011 in Turkey

The topic of the Role of Religion in the Geopolitical framework of EuroMed it is very important for better understanding the reality in which we are working everyday.


The Religion will be tackle as a geopolitical element in the relation among countries and its people. It will be the focus for better analyze the relation among the social groups living in the EuroMed space.


Religion is a very sensitive topic because from personal is becoming a political and sometime institutional element. The seminar would like to focus more on that last part.

The Religion is in itself an educational Tool that could be used during the international activities for better develop and support the mutual understanding and deepest refection about interlinks among cultures and civilizations.

Aims and objectives:

By facilitating establishment of learning community and sustainable partnerships, the seminar has the following objectives :

  • To explore the history of Religions of Mediterranean Basin;
  • To learn about Religions in the framework of EuroMed area;
  • To reflect about the geopolitical role of Religions within the framework of EuroMed;
  • To reflect and explore possibilities of non-formal education activities using Religion as educational Tool;
  • To support participants to identify and start projects development.

The training course is organised by the Maltese National Agency for the YOUTH IN ACTION PROGRAMME in cooperation with SALTO EuroMed Resource Centre.

Boarding and loadging will be covered by the Hosting National Agency.

Travel cost for Programme Countries will be covered by the Sending National Agency.

Travel cost of Meda Countries will be covered by Hosting National Agency till max 500€ (transports and VISA)
