European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008

In 2009, Intercultural Dialogue remains a priority for the European Commission. SALTO is supporting this in many ways.

To close the Year of Intercultural Dialogue, SALTO Cultural Diversity is hosting a photo exhibition and has created a "D" bag". "D" stands for Diversity and Dialogue. The "D" Bag will be distributed all along the year to strenghten the idea that Intercultural Dialogue is an on going process.

ACTIVITIES IN 2008

Coyote magazine

Issue 13 of Coyote, the magazine of the Youth partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission is dedicated to the theme of Intercultural Dialogue. Monica Urian de Sousa describes in her article the institutional perspective of the European Commission on ICD and the importance for making 2008 the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.

Intercultural Dialogue Seminar

In February the SALTO Cultural Diversity Resource Centre organised in cooperation with the Turkish National Agency of the YiA Programme a Seminar looking at the concepts and skills related to Intercultural Dialogue. Within the next months the publication of an Intercultural dialogue leaflet is planned. For more information on this Training Course please click here.

'Roma Youth Round Table'

After having been approached by the Hungarian National Agency of the 'Youth in Action' programme and the Forum of European Roma Young People the SALTO Cultural Diversity Resource Centre decided to develop a project specifically designed for Roma youth during the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. For more information on this project please click here.

New approaches in culture and the important means of communication between people in Europe and the follow-up of the ongoing European Year of Intercultural Dialogue implies that also during the coming European Year of Creativity and Innovation in 2009 the issue of Intercultural Dialogue will receive due attention. Moreover Cultural Diversity is one of the four priorities of the Youth in Action programme that runs from 2007 till 2013.
