Colleague Support Groups for NA Inclusion Officers (= Inter-vision)

Since Inclusion is a high priority of the Youth in Action programme, SALTO Inclusion would like to maximise it's support for NA Inclusion Officers. One way is to start with Colleague Support Groups (or: Inter-visions)

What?

Small groups of Inclusion Officers meet, advice and reflect on common problems, questions, etc. related to inclusion issues on NA level. This process will be facilitated by SALTO RC Inclusion. For 2008 three different meetings are sceduled (June, September, November). Every meeting has a different theme and takes place in a different country. Make your choice!

In details this means:

  • participants are all project officers responsible for inclusion from National Agencies
  • reflecting on the common problem is based on each other's experience and knowledge
  • they advise and support each other on the same issue, theme or problem
  • in order to find new knowledge and insights
  • resulting in (individual) action plans

Who - profile of participants:

  • A maximum of 8 to 10 participants per Colleague Support Group
  • Inclusion officers of NA's
  • NA staff with specific focus/tasks on inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities
  • Officers with different levels of experience
  • The (inclusion) officer is willing to share with colleagues back home

General objectives:

  • The (inclusion) officer will be inspired for the steps to take in order to address the problem or question
  • The (inclusion) officer has considered the usefulness of developing an inclusion strategy
  • The (inclusion) officer is able to exchange experience on inclusion issues with colleagues
  • The (inclusion) officer is able to use the Shaping Inclusion booklet as a tool to move forward/deal with inclusion issues
  • The (inclusion) officer is aware of the support of SALTO Inclusion

Duration

These Colleague Support Groups are concentrated on one theme. This means that the duration is very short and concentrate on 3 days (2 nights).

  • day 1 - arrival day - welcome evening
  • day 2 - working day
  • day 3 - continue working in the morning and departure in the afternoon

In practice some preparation is needed: preparing some (home)work on forehand will be necessary to proceed efficiently in a short time.

When and where?

You can apply for one of them, or for two or three of them. Make your choice! Every meeting has a different group of NA colleagues.

  • The fist one took place in Belgium from 11-13 June 2008 and dealt with the theme of "target groups" - find the ideas from this Colleague Support Group here.
  • The second Colleague Support Group takes place in France from 17 till 19 September 2008 in Nice, and will discuss the topic of "how to deal with different stakeholders".
  • The third Colleague Support Group will take place in Italy from 26-28 November 2008 and will put the theme of "how to proceed with your inclusion plan" on the table.

More details are to find on "application for Colleague Support Groups".

Budget

  • NA's pay own travel and subsistence costs (food and hosting costs)
  • SALTO pays own travel and subsistence costs

Concretely, this means the hosting NA doesn't need to pay anything, since all the costs will be carried by the participating NAs and SALTO Inclusion. Accomodation and working place needs to be organised by the hosting NA.

Follow-up & Support:

The content of each colleague support group will be documented and shared in a general report: methods, problems, questions, answers, .... Depending on the specific questions and problems discussed in the Colleague Support Group, SALTO Inclusion will offer tailor-made support (e.g. to deliver tools, training, etc.)
