NEW GENERATION FOR PEACE. TRAINING PEACE EDUCATORS IN SOUTH-EAST EUROPE

Training Course

7-11 May 2007 | Brasov, Romania

The training will take place in the framework of the new "All Different – All Equal": European Youth Campaign for Diversity, Human Rights, and Participation of the Council of Europe.
MAIN GOAL To train young people, youth leaders, youth workers, and NGO representatives to act as Peace Educators in their own organisations and communities at local and regional level. OBJECTIVES - to develop your personal skills, knowledge, and attitudes to act as a Peace Educator; - to acknowledge and recognise the importance of peace education in addressing all forms of violence; - to introduce the "All Different – All Equal" campaign as a key point in shaping activities to promote peace and combat violence at a local and regional level; - to be trained in applying non-formal education for peace instruments. In order to achieve the goal and objectives of the project, the training is structured along existing key concepts (non-formal education, international teams, group dynamics, participation), but at the same time the participants together with the trainers will create or recreate new concepts (e.g. Peace Educator) using tools and non-formal education resources learnt or created during the training. Also, the methodological approach of the training will focus on team work and learning by experience working methods. The participants will have the chance to experience different situations (out-door activities, simulation games, working in teams, etc.) and to create or reshape different working tools by actively using them in their own team workshops during the training. METHODOLOGY The training will contain various methods and activities specific to non-formal education. The training will focus on different methods using non-formal education in working with key concepts. During the training the participants will be able to deepen their knowledge using different concepts approaching different topics and learning different competences.
