Peer Education in Cultural Diversity Projects

Training Course

14-21 February 2006 | Europahaus, Vienna, Austria

The aim of this training is to increase participant’s awareness, skills, and competencies of dealing with Cultural Diversity issues and to develop strategies/projects for them to use, so they will have an impact in their local community afterwards.
Target group 18 - 25 year olds who work (or volunteer) directly with young people. They must be interested and motivated to learn about this issue and develop projects afterwards. Objectives •To increase participants' knowledge in CD issues •To increase participants' skills and abilities to multiply the learning in a peer environment (covering such topics as Group Dynamics, Project Management, Communication etc) •To encourage and support the development of CD projects after the training The main topics in the training should be about: •Looking at the themes of Diversity (difference, stereotyping, discrimination, etc.) •Raising awareness of the effects of discrimination/oppression •Increasing competencies to deliver CD projects after the course •Learning about the YOUTH programme opportunities as a tool in peer education (especially Action 3)
