SOHO - European Training Course for EVS Mentors

Action 2 of the Youth in Action programme supports the European Voluntary Service (EVS). Mentors support volunteers to find their pathways during this long-term process.

Mentors of EVS projects play a crucial role in the triangle of Sending Organisations, Host Organisations, and the volunteer. At a SOHO training course, mentors from sending and host organisations meet in a multilateral context to exchange needs and expectations and to learn about quality aspects of EVS projects.

On an annual basis, the SALTO Training and Co-operation RC co-ordinates and monitors several SOHO training courses for ca. 250 mentors from all over Europe. The training courses are hosted by the NAs and are implemented by a trainers pool consisting of 7 European trainers: Monika Kezaite, Luisa Pagano, Jarkko Soininen, Gabriella Nagy, Barbora Stemper-Bauerova, Darko Markovic, and Tomasz Lubotzki.

During the current period, the SOHO training courses listed below are planned to take place. The NAs will recruit and select the participants; please check the details when you click on the relevant course. 

  • SOHO-FR1 in France 22-26 October 2008) including participants from France, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and participants from the Neighbouring Partner Country Region of South Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus.
  • SOHO-BE-FR in the French speaking community of Belgium (10-14 December 2008) including participants from the French speaking community of Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Poland, Slovak Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom, and participants from the Neighbouring Partner Country Region of South Eastern Europe.
  • SOHO-FI in Finland (4-8 February 2009) including participants from the Finland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, and participants from the Neighbouring Partner Country Region of South Eastern Europe and perhaps Eastern Europe and Caucasus (TBD).
  • SOHO-BG in Bulgaria (March 2009, TBD) including participants from Bulgaria, Austria, the Flemish and German speaking communities of Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
  • SOHO-FR2 in France (1-5 April 2009) including participants from France, the French speaking community of Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey, and United Kingdom.
  • SOHO-ES in Spain (20-24 Mai 2009) including participants from Spain, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, and Turkey.
  • SOHO-TR in Turkey (June 2009, TBD) including participants from Turkey, Austria, the Flemish speaking community of Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece Hungary, Liechtenstein, Malta, Netherlands, and Poland.
