European Citizenship Training CoursesTraining course on European Citizenship (ECTC) aimed at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their understanding of European Citizenship and encourage them to integrate elements of European Citizenship in their daily projects and practice. Your EC TC Trainer poolSince 2001, the Partnership Programme between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the filed of youth developed and implemented training modules on European Citizenship. Since 2006, the courses are hosted and co-financed by the National Agencies for the YOUTH IN ACTION Programme, co-ordinated by the Partnership and the SALTO Training and Co-operation RC. During the current period, the ECTCs listed below are planned to take place. The NAs will select the participants from Programme Countries. The Partnership will select 8 participants coming from the regions of South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus, and will be supported by the SALTO EECA and SEE RCs. ATTENTION!! For different reasons, the application procdure and deadlines are different for participants coming from YiA Programme countries and those coming from the regions of South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus. - ECTC-ES in Spain (26 January - 1 February 2009), including ca. 20 participants from Spain, Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, and 8 participants from the YiA neighbouring partner country regions South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus.

- ECTC-RO in Romania (30 March - 5 April 2009), including ca. 20 participants from Romania, the French speaking community of Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, and 8 participants from the YiA neighbouring partner country regions South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus.
- ECTC-UK in the United Kingdom (4-10 May 2009), including ca. 20 participants from the United Kingdom, the Flemish speaking community of Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and 8 participants from the YiA neighbouring partner country regions South East Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus.
The training courses are implemented by a trainers pool consisting of 6 European trainers: Andreas Karsten, Elena Kasko, Erzsebet Kovacs, Nuno da Silva, Paola Bortini, and Xavier Baro Urbea. Aim of the training course on European Citizenship The training course on European Citizenship is aimed at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their critical understanding of European Citizenship, exploring and experiencing its potential, and enabling them to recognise and integrate European Citizenship in their youth work. Objectives of the training course on European Citizenship - To critically explore the meaning relevance and implications of European Citizenship in youth work in all its dimensions;
- To promote and facilitate the active use of programmes and structures in support of youth work on European Citizenship;
- To experiment and explore the potential of European Citizenship for active democratic change in society;
- To associate the participants with the current discourse on European Citizenship (its concepts, formal meanings, and expressions);
- To exemplify (make clear, make explicit) the connection between European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy, and ICL as well as the underlying values.
Target group of the training course on European Citizenship The course is intended to address individuals working with young people in a professional capacity on a paid or voluntary basis (e.g. youth workers, youth leaders, community and social workers, teachers), who: - have experience in directly developing and managing a project with and for young people;
- have organised or co-organised at least one youth project with a European dimension;
- are committed and motivated to work directly with young people on issues related to European Citizenship;
- are supported by their organisation in their current and future work;
- have a general knowledge and understanding of youth and youth work realities in their contexts;
- are motivated to undergo training and able to attend the course for its full duration;
- are able to work in English; and
- are resident in a Member State of the Council of Europe or in another country signatory to the ECC.
