Accreditation of EVS Organisations and Projects

Expression of Interest (EI) >>

WHY

Any organisation wishing to send or host EVS volunteers or coordinate an EVS project must be accredited.
Accreditation serves to gain access to EVS and to ensure a common quality standard in EVS.

---------------------

WHO

Any organisation in a Programme Country or in South East Europe. EI forms are submitted by the organisation and refer to a local placement.
The same organisation may request one or more types of accreditation (as sending, as host, as co-ordinating organisation).

----------------------

WHEN

Organisations send their EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EI) at any time.
Ideally, accreditation will be carried out within six weeks after receipt of the EI.
Organisations wishing to apply for a grant for a concrete project are advised to send in their completed EI so that it reaches SALTO SEE at the latest 6 weeks before.

----------------------

HOW IT GOES

Two persons who have been ordered by SALTO SEE to carry out the accreditation (either external consultants or staff of SALTO SEE or YOUTH National Agencies)
will assess your Expression of Interest and get in contact with you, probably also visit your organisation, to discuss with you the framework conditions for concrete projects and the social infrastructure for hosting volunteers.
Afterwards you will receive information about the result, and, if the EI is accredited, later also a certificate as accredited organisation.

----------------------

WHAT NEXT

In case of approval the accreditation will have a validity of three years.
Your project description will after accreditation be made available in a database of European Voluntary Service projects.

!!!The accreditation does not represent a financial support, but is a prerequisite for a later application for a concrete project.

CALL FOR ACCREDITORS

Youth in Action: European Voluntary Service
Accreditation of EVS organisations

Accreditors for organisations in South East Europe are appointed by the SALTO SEE Resource Centre. They will be contracted on a case-by-case basis. To ensure fair treatment, two accreditors will be contracted for each Expression of Interest. These two will have to co-operate on their assessment of the organisation. Normally one of the accreditors is from the region and the other one from a Programme Country. The established procedure is that one accreditor, the one who is located closer to the project, visits the organisation. The two accreditors then consult each other before coming to an agreement about whether the organisation should be positively accredited or not.
